The West Long Branch Sports Association will not be offering baseball to boys older than 2nd grade starting in 2012. There are a number of local alternatives available, including the Shore Little League or the Borough of Oceanport Recreation. Information on their programs can be found at the web sites below.
The Sports Association has been offering baseball to the children of West Long Branch and children attending West Long Branch schools for over 25 years. Unfortunately we’ve see a sharp decline in registrations over the past 5 or 6 years in the older players, mostly due to interest in other local programs and other sports such a travel soccer and lacrosse. We’ve had our participation in the older leagues decline as a result, and we have been fielding less and less teams in those leagues. We, as the Executive Board, feel that we are at a point where we are unable to provide the level of quality programs we strive for, and which you expect from our Association.
We will continue to offer the rest of our spring programs.
